How To Eat For Success

Eating for weight loss success can sometimes be tricky, especially if you’re trying to significantly reduce your intake of fats in your diet.  Many women who endeavor to lose weight opt to go “fat-free” with the belief that if they can cut their fat out of their diets, they’ll be able to also cut the fat off of their thighs, arms, and bellies.  This belief, however, has some flaws, as fat-free doesn’t necessarily mean calorie-free.  So, if you want to lose weight, you still must take account of the amount of calories you consume on a daily basis.  Let’s take a closer look at the fat-free misconception so that you can understand exactly where I’m coming from when I say that fat-free doesn’t necessarily mean calorie-free.  Many fat-free food options contain as many, if not more calories than the “full-fat” options that you may eat each day.  Often the reason is that they are packed with sugar to help provide flavor to make up for the absence of fat.

The fact that the label states “fat-free” is nothing but a marketing ploy to encourage purchases with the idea that if someone is purchasing a fat-free choice, they are doing something better to promote their weight loss.  This can backfire, and cause unintended weight gain due to the fact that sugar can trigger cravings for more sugar, which ultimately means more calories are consumed.  In the end, it may have been better to consume the “full fat” version of that particular food and perhaps benefit from the satiety that occurs when fat is consumed.  Overall, the fat consumption may ultimately be a better choice since it can do a far better job of curbing not only sugar cravings, but also cravings for more food.  In the end, it’s important to realize that fats are essential to good health…and to weight loss success.  The goal is to make sure they’re from healthy sources such as avocado, nuts, and lean meats, for example.  In the end, you’ll be helping yourself and ensuring that you stay on the path to good health and eventually achieve all of your goals.
